Permanent Makeup Aftercare

Josie Hernandez

After getting permanent makeup, it's essential to take proper care to ensure the best possible healing and long-term results! Here are some things to avoid:

Permanent makeup aftercare
Touching or Picking

Resist the temptation to touch or pick at the treated area. Doing so can introduce bacteria and cause infections or disrupt the healing process.

Excessive Moisture

Avoid exposing the treated area to excessive moisture, such as swimming pools, saunas, or hot tubs. Moisture can affect the pigment retention and lead to fading or even infections.

Sun Exposure

Direct sunlight and UV rays can fade the pigment and increase the risk of complications. Protect the treated area from prolonged sun exposure by wearing a wide-brimmed hat or using sunscreen with a high SPF.

Makeup and Skincare Products

Avoid applying makeup or skincare products directly on the treated area until it has completely healed. These products may contain chemicals or irritants that can interfere with the healing process.

Chemical Peels and Laser Treatments:

Refrain from undergoing chemical peels, laser treatments, or other aggressive facial procedures on or near the treated area. These treatments can affect the pigment and compromise the healing process.

Facial Treatments and Exfoliation

Avoid harsh facial treatments, exfoliation, or abrasive scrubs on the treated area as they can cause irritation, uneven fading, or premature exfoliation of the pigment.

Heavy Exercise or Sweating

Intense physical activities and excessive sweating can cause the pigment to fade or become distorted. It's best to avoid such activities for at least a week or until the area has fully healed.

Sleeping Position

During the initial healing stage, try to avoid sleeping on your face or rubbing the treated area against your pillow. This can cause friction and disrupt the healing process.

Blood Thinners and Medications

Consult with your doctor or the technician who performed the procedure regarding any medications or supplements you are taking. Some medications, such as blood thinners, can affect the healing process.

Ignoring Aftercare Instructions

Follow the aftercare instructions provided by your technician diligently. They may include applying ointments, avoiding certain activities, or cleaning the area gently. Proper aftercare is crucial for optimal healing and long-lasting results.

Remember, everyone's healing process may vary, so it's important to consult with your technician for personalized guidance and any specific instructions they may have provided. By following these guidelines and giving your permanent makeup the care it needs, you can enjoy beautiful, long-lasting results.
